Book Updates and other little things
Note to Self, Don't use Fivr Editors
As a new author to the publishing and editing game, I’ve learned a valuable lesson in not going to Fivr for hiring editors. I went through two editors there for the first round of editing and the second round after revision, and I’m still finding SO many mistakes and missing lines! I’m so mad at myself for this, but at the same time, this is the very first book that I’ve ever published.
I’ll keep this first version up for now, but once I can get a better cover and editor, I’ll edit the book.
Why am I changing the Cover? I want the first edition of the book to stand out from the second (better edited) edition. Plus, my mom is a watercolor artist, and I’d like to collaborate with her to make some really nice pictures for the inside of the book and the cover itself. So, the First edition will remain up for now. Just know that I’ll be taking it off sale once the manuscript is properly edited.
Here’s hoping I don’t make the same mistake again for books 2-4!
At the same time, my Beta Readers didn’t notice this either. So I don’t know how this happened, but I intend to fix this as soon as humanly possible.
Let’s try this again, shall we? Everything has a learning curb, after all!
Until next time everyone!
Fight scenes, I tell ya
Phew, I don't know if it's the rush of the events coming up in July or what, but I'm having a hard time getting myself to settle in and write these fight scenes. Maybe I'm just not used to it? or maybe I just need to get out of my head. Who knows at this point XD
I'm also trying to think of how to to format the second book, like have Fable's and Brens adventure in Part 1 then Nicks adventure in part 2, or have them flip nack and forth through the chapters.
And lastly daydreaming about when the series is complete and I can make a large book in one. A bundle do to speak. Anyway, thought I'd get my thoughts out here for a moment to try and put them aside. Lets get back to brain storming!
Dry Spell in Writing book 2
Hey everyone! Thought I'd give an update on book 2!
Things are going fairly well, drafted up to chapter 7 now, so that's a pretty good start. However, I'm in a bit of a writing dry spell. I wouldn't say it's writers block, it's more along the lines of uncertainty how to connect things. I'm a conspiracy theorist that's run out of string so to speak.
So, I think I'll let myself breathe a bit and play with some clay. That always seems to help get my creative juices flowing.
In the meantime, I'm currently working on a Minor Dragon that will breathe smoke. Loving how he's turning out so far! He still needs a name, but I'm mildly hoping that with my artdolls I can get into a studio like the Jim Henson Creations. Now wouldn't that be awesome?!
But thats pretty much the update. 7 Chapters mapped out, just need to refind my groove again. Oh! And my First book comes out in just under a month! I'm so excited!
Lets begin again!
Hey everyone! Sorry for the silence since I last updated. I wanted to give myself an actual writing space for the rest of this series of books. I was fun clearing out the closet in my craft room to make an official writing space, or a Writing Nook as I've been calling it. It's nice and cozy, and it's really helping my posture.
In other news, book 2 is already in the works! I'm just getting the first draft written out, but I'll have more consistent updates of that process on my Kofi. And when the first draft is done, I'll open the story for Beta Readers, so keep an eye out for the sign up link!
Book 1 launches in just a little over a month! The official launch date is May 16th of this year. From the feedback I've gotten so far, a few people have already pre-ordered it, so I'm eager to see how many people ordered.
Thats all the updates for now. I'll try to be more consistant with this blog, but life tends to have other plans here and there. Thank you for reading!
It's finally on Preorder!
My book is finally available for Preorder! I and over the moon with excitement! You can still become a member and get a signed free copy on my Kofi, as a thank you for supporting my work, but you can preorder my book as well!
I already have the link available in the List of Books tab to the left. Once again, thank you all so very much in supporting my story, and helping me get this far to reach this dream.
What about future books?
I do have a novella started on the site called ScribbleHub so you're welcome to keep up with that. Though I warn you it's not going through all the editing hoops GaKoM had gone through to be published. Consider Starlit Eyes as a web series involving Myth and some of its Politics. I do plan on writing other stories about Myth as well, though GaKoM will be the main series.
Once more, thank you all so much for the continued support. I couldn't have made it without you!
The Quest is Complete!
It's Finally Done!! And here's the cover art for my book! I'm working on getting the physical books for my Members right now, but after I get those the book will be ready for Pre-Order through Amazon! This is So exciting! Thank you all So Very much for supporting this project! And I look forward to starting over with book 2!
I do still intend for this book to be released in May, and I'm planning on that being May 16th. I just wanted to get the books for my members since I had promised it to them for a while now. Plus, they'll get a hand crafted bookmark to go with the book!
This is honestly a dream come true guys. I'd been wanting to publish a book since I was a teenager, and it's hard to believe I've finally made it. I'm in the Published Authors Club! And I have everyone that supported me to thank!
So, thank you all!
New Cover art and Editing Marathon
Oh my gosh! I'm so glad I splurged for a Professional Editor and a frofessionally done Cover for the book! It looks so Pretty!!
While I was planning on having the book finished, finished by now, looks like I have one more big round of editing before I can set it up for Pre-Order. I do still plan on having the book ready for purchace in May, Likely by May 31, but I have a plan!
I'll be bringing my Laptop with me to work, so I can work on the book on my breaks. Hopefully, it'll be ready by then. We're in the final Count Down folks! And I can hardly wait to release Myth onto the world.
I still plan on giving members of my Kofi Page a free, signed, hardcover copy of my book, as well as a bookmark to go with it. But there's only ten available, so sign up quick!
Thank you all so much for supporting my work, I don't think I would have getting this far without you guys.
I have a few updates!
So as you guys may or may not know, I'd been looking for a cover artist on DA I could commission for the cover of my book. Well, I sadly had no luck in finding an artist willing that does the style I was hoping for. So, I'm going with a service that does Cover Art. I only just submitted for it so I'm eager to see how it turns out.
I've also sent my manuscript to an editor to get it looked over and tweeked here and there so it's ready and polished for May!
To celebrate the publishing, Anyone who's a Keeper in Waiting Member on my Kofi page will get a signed hardcover copy of the book and a bookmark! I'll be limiting these special hard covers to only ten people so the first ten to sign up will get the book.
I've been concidering if I want to do a Kickstarter, but I think I'll stick with what I have so far. Perhaps for the second book I'll do something like that, maybe even add an enamel pin!
I'm so excited for this new chapter, and I look forward to seeing how it pans out! Once the book is published I'll be sure to add links to my Bookbub page, as well as anywhere else you can find the book.
Thank you all so much for the support, I couldn't have gotten this far without you all!
Where did My Writing begin?
I thought I'd share how I started writing with you all, since everyone starts somewhere.
To be honest, it was when I was in, I think Second grade, and I found the book series Pixie Tricks by Tracey West. I loved that series! And while I never did get all the books in the series, I had so much fun reading the story and following Sprite and Violet on thier adventures. This lead to me wanting to give writing a shot.
Now, this was back in the day when computers were oversized boxes under a desk and the monator looked like old TVs. My mom showed me how to work the computer and how the keyboard worked, and I was off. I don't remember how long it took, but I soon had my first short story about a fairy named Sparkle. I now have this story cross stitched and framed and waiting to be hung up somewhere in my adult life. I may post that story somewhere? I'll have to see later and see if people would be interested.
Years down the road, I'm still writing, mostly short stories, that is until I discovered the amazing, and vast world of FanFiction! I read mostly Sonic Fanfics to start with, staying up late scrolling through Deviant art and watching these stories unfold. One of my favorite authors is Net Raptor, who made a very beautiful story of Sonic and the other characters in the series.
This lead to my own fanfic writings, which I don't dare post, but if you so happen to find said stories anywhere, I hope you enjoy the stories. However I will warn you my gramar and spelling are likely not great.
It was through writing these fanfics that I met some amazing friends. One of which has become a Writing Buddy of sorts. We bounce ideas off each other, give suggestions, and encourage each other whenever we hit writers block or get discuraged. I'll post a link to his Wattpad for his Original Story bellow.
It's thanks to him, and a couple other writing buddies I've met on Deviant Art that helped encourage me to write and world build, and mostly to not give up on this adventure.
So, it doesn't matter where you start with writing, what matters is that you write. because the world in your head can't get out to the world around you unless you put it to paper.
Support my friend in his Writing!
Hopeful Book Release Date!
Hey everyone!! I think I finally have a release date for Guardians and Keepers of Myth! I'll have a more definitive date for release when I get closer to it, but for now, I'm aiming for Mid-late May for the book to officially release.
I'm so very excited to get it polished and ready for you all to read! I'm really hoping it goes well, and I hope you all enjoy the story as much as I have enjoyed writing it and preparing it.
This is the closest I've ever gotten to truely publishing a book, and I hope it goes well. In other news, I'm lightly starting book 2! I'll update you all on that book as it goes as well, maybe even have live streams on my Twitch of the initial writing for it!
Be sure to stay tuned, and I'll have a link posted on my Book List page for where you can buy the book, weather ebook or a physical copy!
Happy New Years Everyone!!
Happy New Years!! Lets make this year the Best one yet! I have a few things on my list I'd like to get done this year and I thought I'd share them with you here.
- Publish Guardians and Keepers of Myth
- Get writing on the second book
- Sell more Drakes on my Etsy Shop
What about you all? What are some goals you have for 2024? I hope this new year find you all well, and brings you all good health and Prosperity
Book Cover Design
Hey Everyone! I thought I'd share a Dust Jacket design I made recently. I have a couple digns in the works, and I'm looking for artists to comission to make a book cover, but I like how this turned out.
in other news, I'm lightly starting work on the next book in the series. Just working at planning it out for now. very early stages.
The Beta Readers
Things are getting exciting! I admit I was nervous to let others read the Manuscript, but having Beta Readers has been a really fun experience so far. It's fun reading thier feedback and tweeking the story according to thier suggestions.
I was surprised to find one of them is an editor for a publishing company! I do still plan on a self publishing rout, but I'll still check out this company and see if I can go a traditional rout at least for my next book if not for my first book.
For now, I thought I'd share my Writing Process. I have two, one for when I'm at home, and one for when I'm at work;
At Home:
- Tidy up my work space
- brew my favorite tea
- have poke or another snack on hand
- light a yellow candle
- put on some ambiance (Not music, but a cabin sound, or somethign relaxing or matching the scene I'm working on)
At Work:
- On break, I eat a quick meal
- get a snack (reeces cups are the best)
- find Writing Sprint Videos on YouTube
- Write for as long as I can with the Timer going.
The first routine is more relaxed, and I make less mistakes, but the second one is like a little challenge for me, like can I finish this chapter before my next appointment? If anything, both have helped my writing skills.
